DFI
Arts formed to develop careers of emerging singer/sonwriters
Houston,
August 30, 2009
Daniel Follette, Inc. today anounced the launch of DFI Arts, the
company's new arts management arm. The new label will offer branding,
marketing and production expertise to the music industry. DFI Arts
will give select, emerging singer/songwriters business, marketing
and creative support to enable them to find their audiences more
quickly and build viable careers. The organization will provide
a full range of advice from career planning, A&R, marketing
and publishing, to branding and production.
Jon Hogan, the Austin-based singer/songwriter known for his original
scorch-folk and American-genre music is DFI Arts' lead artist. His
music and performance have been described as “Woody Guthrie
meets Townes Van Zandt and the Carter Family to pick guitar with
Kurt Cobain.”
Jon
currently has three projects in development with DFI Arts, "Oil
Town," an album of original songs; "Townes 'a Blaze'n,"
Jon's treatment of select songs by legends Townes van Zandt and
Blaze Foley. A portion of album proceeds will go to support the
Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe in Galveston. The tracks on a third album
with the working title of "Old Time," will show just how
contemporary traditional Appalachian ballads can be.
Jon's
work reflects traditions that range from gospel rectitude to the
gut-wrenching howl of the itinerant, freethinking cosmic refugee.
Add righteous anger at anyone who ever took advantage of a decent
soul, and there stands Jon Hogan. Austin producer, John Litherland,
called Jon Hogan "A Will Rogers for a future generation."
Other
client artist include the singer/songwriters David Fahl and Ashton Taylor.

Several
quarters ago, Daniel Follette scripted seven Web-based training
modules
on well control for Technomedia International, Inc. In late August,
Technomedia announced that the well control series had received
International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) approval.
Technomedia
provides an extensive library of API-approved Web-based training.

Follette started his professional career developing programmed instruction
for the API at Resources Development Company (formerly Howell Training).
